Alexis Korner’s Electric Guitar Greats

During the 12 months before he died on New Year’s Day 1984, ALEXIS KORNER – the sometimes called “Founding Father of British Blues” – put together a series of hour long radio documentaries and personal interviews for the BBC that profiled seven electric guitar playing greats.

The seven included in Alexis Korner’s list – in order of transmission – were:

• B B King … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Saturday, 23 June
• Scotty Moore … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Sunday, 24 June
• James Burton … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Monday, 25 June
• Hank Marvin … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Tuesday, 26 June
• Eric Clapton … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Wednesday, 27 June
• Jeff Beck … to be again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Thursday, 28 June
• Pete Townshend … to be aired again at 04:00 hours (GMT) Friday, 29 June

Having started at 04:00 hours (GMT) this morning, Saturday, 23 June - and for the next six early morning 60-minute slots from 04:00 to 05:00 hours (GMT) – BBC Radio 6’s digital channel will be airing these broadcasts again. Each of the seven broadcasts will in turn be available for online listen-again replay on the BBC Radio 6 section of the iPlayer for up to a maximum of 7 days following each broadcast.

Seeing as the BBC does not block its online iPlayer radio listen-again replay content to non-UK registered IP addresses – then anyone with an internet connection should be able to listen in.
