Manufacturing Questions...

Post by jcreasy »

I have 2 360s... Both early 90's. One is a 12 (12/92) one is a 6 (06/90).

They are different.

Not in a bad way but you can see the contours on the lower ramp/pick-guard assembly are not the same. (One has more of a ridge between the pick guard edge and the ramp).

The route on the top horn approaching the neck pocket is not the same. (The 12 stops the rout contour earlier before the neck and goes to a square shoulder like a 330. Same thing on the treble horn. On the 12 it seems to stay square longer than the 6... On both sides).

The perimeter looks to be the same.

None of this is critical (obviously). But when did we (Rick) go to CNC? How much of that is CNC? Can someone explain and/or link? The contour of one is about a 1/4 inch off... If this has not been covered, can someone give me a link? It seems that with CNC and even hand finish sanding, the contours and routs would be so close I could not see them.

Any insight/discussion appreciated.

Thanks,

JKC
