The gold '65 Jazzmaster and sunburst '64 Tele DO have my interest, though...

I wish they'd offer Fiesta Red; what the hell?!
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

Blimey, a ruby red Jaguar! Love to get me hands on that one!

Can someone enlighten me: Fender shows body shapes: Strat, Tele, Jazzmaster and Jaguar - what IS the difference in body shape, if any, between Jazzmaster and Jaguar as I don't see it! Is it just the routing? The main body shape is the same, right? Or have I been wrong all my life there? :?:

Werner, they are different if you examine closely. I noticed it when working with templates.

Kira, I did some quick reading, and the body shape should be the same, the scale length being the difference - at least according to Fenders own website!

Werner, it was always my understanding that the Jaguar was based on the Jazzmaster. I think Kira has it right regarding the body and you are right about the difference in scale size. From my reading, the body shape is slightly different with the Jazzmaster having an upper horn that is slightly more pronounced and a slightly larger butt. It also seems to me that there is a difference in the shape of the headstock too.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Now you mentioned that I checked online and to me the Jaguar has a different upper horn, which has more cut away than the Jazzmaster. I don't notice any difference in headstock or butt width though.

The upper horn on the Jag is sharper than the Jazzmaster.

Yes, that's a good way to describe it! :D

Looking at the lineup, there are some good things and some bad. First, it's nice that they're offering some more options on the Tele and the Strat. The color combos are sadly limited. It seems like they've lost their way though with offering models that are straying away from the beaten path of the seminal models that are almost really needed to fuel any real vintage line.

I was checking out some photos of the two guitars, and the way I see it, the "sharper" horn on the Jaguar is primarily due to the cutaway on the upper horn of the Jaguar being deeper than on the Jazz Master.

Close but no cigar IMO.

The '65 Strat would have benefited from the short-lived bound fingerboard found on some Strats of that era. The headstock and decal are very cool but not enough IMO.

That gold Jazzmaster sure looks familiar...

Looks like the '62 RI Jazzmaster & Jaguar has been discontinued and MSRP on the new ones is $2874.99/$2400ish street.

Roll your own, homies.

I really liked the '62 era guitars a lot more.

In related news, it also appears that the vintage line bass models are gone, too. The link under the Fender bass products to the American Vintage series just links to the new guitars. I guess there will be more roll-outs coming in the near future.

The whole feel to this new series is a tweak to something that really didn't need extensive tweaking, all to justify another price increase.

They should have stopped the tweaking sometime around the mid '60s!
