I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Cool, and different. I'm a big fan of JB's "fretless-esque" sound. Having the clarinet follow the bass line on some parts of that made it kinda polka-sounding....swingin' big-band polka ,of course...

I don't recall Buddy doing this song when I saw him in the mid '80s, though? :?

JB has ALWAYS had that SAME 80's burp-bass sound with heavy mids. I find it odd that he thinks Mark Bass is just the best bass amp he's ever had since he sounds he same through everything he plays. When he played with ABWH he had that SAME sound again. While it was okay on the ABWH stuff, it sounded like a$$ on the YES material. Ya, I know he's a Berkely grad and light years beyond me, but still. You'd think he would have gotten with the program and used the right tool for the job.

On the whole Jazz theme, perhaps it was the right tool, certainly an opposite to Geddy's sound, but sticking with the Jazz theme to the nail, it should have been played on a Double Bass  , come on Youtuber's let's see your stuff :D .

Well, Neil seemed pretty satisfied with Jeff. 8) Berlin's tone was just fine for the intended reading of this song in the style it was played in. :D

To clarify, I thought his tone and choice of basses sucked when playing YES music, but it's fine for other things, if not a bit dated. Okay...a LOT dated.
