Tuners - Schaller vs RIC deluxe Vintage (Kluson Clones)

Post by k43rover »

Some people have expressed a preference for the recently reintroduced slimmer sixties style headstock coupled with the latest generation of improved RIC deluxe (Kluson clone) vintage style tuners. This combination has been featured on several of the recent one-off/limited edition guitars (Tobacco burst f-hole, Greenglo f-hole).

If you have a preference, please vote for either:

A) Keep the status quo - Schaller for 24 fret "modern" guitar lines and RIC deluxe (Kluson clone) vintage style for Reissue/21 fret guitars or

B) Use the latest RIC deluxe vintage/Kluson style tuners for all six/twelve string guitars

Imo they ought to change to even more modern design Schaller tuners! :D

Anyway, I selected the first option. Imo the Klusons are nice for V/C series and 21-fret f-hole guitars, but not for the regular guitars. Why have regular production guitars if they have the exact same options as reissues?

Exactly! Now you're catching on! They should all be x-braced 21-fretters with checkered binding and sparkly inlays and vintage style tuners.

But I like Higains, so let's make pickup choice optional. :D

To tell you the truth im just pleased to see some of the things weve all be wanted arrive off the production line. Im loving the 21 fret F hole models of late. There gotta be a happy medium somewhere as not everyone is gonna like the vintage appointment's that some of us love.So a bit of vintage here and bit of modern there makes a good recipe in my book.

Indeed. I'm being facetious of course! The 21-fretters are awesome and so are the 24's.

But to get this back to the original point of this thread - I'd like to see the vintage style tuners on 21's and 24's alike.

Is this for purely cosmetic reasons on each line or do you prefer the functionality of the Schallers?

Speaking of tuners, these are the ones that came on my new 330S TBG. Similar but different.

Interesting, the E and B are single lines.

The tuners on mine are all double-lines:

Don't know what happened at the factory with this one...looks like they put 2 (presumably older) single lines on with four of the new spec double lines? :?
