MIDs vary, as any longtime Rick observer knows.

I don't see anything wrong with finding one or more nail polishes that could be mixed to match. Make sure anything you mix together is all lacquer (there are some water-based nail polishes out there).

A second caveat: If the finish is really nicked up, you could have a perfect match and a nail polish touchup will still look awful due to the number of nicks, which interrupt the highlights and make the instrument look pocked. So, moderation is called for.

Just out of curiosity what about the touch-up material for car dents and scratches? Better/worse than nail polish?

I was wondering about that, given that I have even less experience with nail polish (zero) than I do with car touch up paint (next to zero).
