What song was No.1 on the day you were born

Post by Spiritinthesky »

Have you ever done this?

My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

Great website! :D

I already knew it was a good one for me as far as the UK charts were concerned.....I Feel Fine by our friends from Liddypool (first record to feature feedback n'est-ce pas?).

Turns out the Fab Four were also in the top slot in the US/Canada with the same tune.

I can't imagine what they were thinking in Germany and Australia as the Fabs had somehow been relegated from top spot there by "Kleine Annabell - Ronny" and "Over The Rainbow - Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs" ???

You may want to take a stiff drink before you click on these links...

John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" , which seems kind of fitting that now I'm playing in a country band.

What a great site!

For me it was "Satisfaction" in the UK and "Help" in the US. Pretty impressive!

However, in Canada, where I was actually born, it was apparently either "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire or "My Name is Mud" by Eddie Rambeau, which doesn't say much for my country's taste in music.

If I was from Australia it would have been Normie Rowe and the Playboys' version of "Que Sera Sera". I'm not sure whether or not that would have been an improvement.

UK: Memories Are Made of This - Dean Martin
US: Rock And Roll Waltz - Kay Starr
AUS: Sixteen Tons - Tennessee Ernie Ford
GER: Eventuell, Eventuell - Peter Alexander & Caterina Valente
CA: I guess I'm too old, they don't have records of the Canadian charts that far back...
:(

Only records for the US and UK for me... I must be old as dirt.

US - Cry by Johnnie Ray and the Four Lads
UK - There's Always Room At Our House by Guy Mitchell

Almost sounds like Dean Martin.

Don't ever remembering hearing either.
