YO!

Sorry, I don't usually talk like that hehe!

PM sent, Peter, with my sincere apologies for having taken so long to fix your pickup. It's done and ready to go.

Alas, my mother's illness - Alzheimer's - takes up a lot of my time. Such is life. But now I'm back in the swing of things, as they say. 8)

Hi John, it was a 1973/4 bridge PU with green bobbin but already with the regular mushrooms (w/o plastic coating) and the big magnet beneath. Sérgio wound it to about 10kOhms as I'm going to match it with a 9.6 kOhm neck PU from the same period. The bass for that will be the stripped '82 4001JG from Tony Matura, which is currently in sealing and shading (approx. AG) treatment. In about 1 weeks time I'll get it back for sraping the binding and then will get it off for final CV.

Nice!

On the Subject of Silva p/ups, I've been trying off and on, for tha last couple of years, to find Mr. Silva bar magnets like the type Gibson uses to wind their p/ups, without success. Anyone know a source? My Alnico source was not helpful.

Did you refinish the fretboard? By the way- look at my avatar 8)

Yes, the fretboard was sanded a bit with 220 grade sand paper after stripping it with some gentle paint remover. The binding, even on hte side of the frets was left intact. The fingerboard will get a heavy duty epoxy varnish (2 components) that will make it nearly impossible to scratch. Such is used for buke or oak floor planks. Let's see the result in about 2-3 weeks time. :D

BTW: Did you p**s that blue paint over it  ?

No, that is how I bought the bass. It was house paint glo :D on the front and blue metallic spray paint on the back.
