Harmony guitar...I got mine!

Post by octagon »

I got this at my neighborhood music store yesterday for $600.What a great guitar! It plays great and sounds awesome.
I wanted one of these since I was kid and saw one in the Sears Catalog.I thought it was the ultimate guitar!

They are single coils sorta like P-90s but with their own distinctive charactor. Here are a couple of vids so you can hear them clean and distorted.

Thanks! Here is a good demo vid by Mike Dugan

Mine is a latter model made around 1970.The differences are mine has bindings on the F-holes,white knobs and a Hagstrom bridge. This guitar is big but very light, weighs about 6.5lbs.It's a full hollow so you can play it without plugging in.

That's a nice sound.

A guitar is prominently featured in the English Beat video "Save It For Later." I'm not sure if it's a Harmony, but it looks similar to yours.

Congrats!

Yes! is is the same guitar...It's an H-75(non Bigsby version). Thanks for telling me. :D

Here is a good demo of this guitar played through Peavey tube amp for more spanky clean sounds.

Kevin Ayers(ex Soft Machine) plays a Harmony H-78 in this vid. That's Mike Oldfield(Tubular Bells) on bass.
