I finally sprung for a set of TI flats for my 360/12 string. They're different, all right. I had to readjust the knobs on my amp and the Jangle Box. Nice tone. The biggest discovery to me is that little squeak is gone when I shift chord positions, or do a gliss up a few frets. Nice. So yeah, I'm a convert. I hope at $40 a pop they last a long time. (They should. Most everyone says they do on the forum.)

JimK,
What most struck me about TI Flats was not just the elimination of the finger squeak and the rattles commonly associated with roundwound strings, but a dramatic change in tone. This was best expressed by Todd Bradshaw, who explained that the flats dull the sound of each low course and thus accentuate the sound of each octave string, resulting in a more treble-heavy sound. I think you'll be glad you took the plunge, not only for tone and playability, but for the much-vaunted longevity of TI Flats, which can last up to five times longer than regular roundwound strings.
Keep us posted on how things go.

They are just great. Just. Great.

You read my mind, Jake. And on second thought, they might really shine on the Travis/Atkins style playing I use on the Gretsch.JakeK wrote:Welcome to the club, Jim
