My new July '66 335

Post by sys700 »

Well I bit the bullet on this July 1966 335 and paid in full. Should arrive next week. I'm a sucker for extremely clean fireglo's, especially the slightly darker bursts, with 3-piece tops.

Well that is a beauty, extraordinary condition, great FG shade.

Was this an ebay item or direct from a dealer? Great photographs.

Direct from a dealer on gbase. I paid $4250, but in this condition, I think it was worth it. Apparently owned by an older African American lady who never played it much if at all.

Am I reading this correctly....that guitar is from 1966????

How can that be? The close-up photos of the pickups and bridge cover show not one scratch, not even a teeny, tiny mark on them. They look pristine and better than that which is found on a brand new Ric. The knobs all look as thought they just came out of a package, and the fretboard has no sign at all of the finish flaking around the frets. And the big plate of the Accent is scratch-your-head brilliant. It shines like marble without one single mark on it.

How is all that possible on a forty-eight year old instrument?

Yes, this is a 1966. I had him go over the entire guitar for me on the phone. There is no fretwear at all. Zero, zilch. No worn lacquer. No scratches on the neck. There is one small mark on the back of the guitar, if you look very close, and that's it. Pretty incredible for a 48 year old instrument. The lady kept it in the case all its life.

It arrived today. Simply stunning! There are a couple small little nicks here and there, but very small. Only 12 serial numbers away from my '66 12-string of the same year. Very resonant, low action guitar, long-pole toasters, 3-piece top. Very nice! :-)
