Push/Pull pots in a 650 series

Post by loverickbass »

Does anyone know for sure if standard CTS push/pull pots will fit in the 650 series guitars?

It's very tight. If the pots have a ground tab on the back of the switch, that tab needs to be bent flat, flush with the bottom surface of the switch, or removed altogether. The p/p pots used on Rick basses have flush tabs, but these pots have a couple of variations.

Remove or bend the tab and check clearance afterwards. If the rout is not quite deep enough, a bit of clearance needs to be routed into the cavity in the pot area; usually 1/16" is enough. There's plenty of meat to allow for this if it's done accurately and carefully.
