Paul, thanks for your advice regarding silicone. I have found Zymol here in Melbourne, but there are numerous products - is there a specific one you use?

This is correct. Silicone is an issue during the actual finish application when the coating is wet. Our buffing compounds, which we have used for decades, contain silicone, but this process comes after the finish has hardened. Brillianize, which we use to clean our instruments in the last stages of production, also contains silicone.

Could the polish be a good replacement for scratch-x? I can't find Nu-finish in mainland Europe and maybe the Nomad polish and wax be a good alternative for the scratch-x/zymol treatment?
