Mr Cavern Club dies

The death has been announced of Ray McFall at the age of 88.

Buying the Cavern Club from previous owner Alan Sytner for the reported sum of £2,750 in 1959, Ray McFall owned and operated the former jazz club during its 1960s heyday before looming bankruptcy forced the temporary closure of the legendary Mathew Street venue while new owners took over and relaunched the club some five months later.
