Hi there, I just got my Rickenbacker Rose Morris made in 1988. It´s gorgeous and it sounds and play like a dream!, only problem is the finish came off around some tuners heads!! I am so sad!!! I love the guitar , I was told that some 80´s era Ricks have the same problems. Original owner told me he never touched the tuning screws, no over turning. Here is a photo so you can help me found out a solution, if there is any!!

Hi Juan, I have seen that a few times before with that type of tuner (which were only used for a few years in the late 80s), often from people overtightening the ferrules. But I've also seen it happen on a lot of old guitars, regardless of brand.

You could touch up the chip, but it's likely you will still see it. Personally, I'd accept that it's a 30-year-old guitar and that's completely normal wear. Want to see how beat up my 1964 Rose Morris is?
