early 1965 360-12 with no checkerboard binding on back? Black line instead?

Greetings -
I have in my possession a new-style January 1965 360-12 (under the pickguard, on the inside of the back, it says 360-12-G), and to my surprise the back has a black line around the border instead of a checkerboard binding. The pots are dated Dec. 64.
It's got all the 360 characteristics; crushed pearl inlays, etc. The only thing that's "missing" is the checkerboard binding.
You've got the back, which is FireGlo, then a thin black line of approx. 2mm, then the creme binding. It looks original, but I've never seen this.
See attached pic.
Have you seen this before? Thanks!
