And finally, this picture shows the Vox equipment of The Escorts. This one was taken by Dezo Hoffmann, the official Beatles photographer, for the launching of 'Dizzie' in March / April 1964.

Miguel: The Escorts certainly emulated The Beatles in every way shape and form, from head to toe and with regard to their equipment as well. I suppose that this is not surprising as The Beatles' formula was synonymous with success and their style in dress and music became a template for a number of groups that followed. Thanks so much for these photos which will add much to this discussion.

You have to love the VOX amplifiers and chrome stands. The stands seem to cost as much today as the amplifiers did back then.

Thanks, Peter. I still have more pictures of The Escorts, if you all are interested. I love this band, I discovered them when I was a teenager and use to listen to their records every now and then.

Of course I love the 'Vox' amps! I know about every model, from the sixties until now. I own a 'Vox Cambridge 30 RT', a beautiful amp. It has been recently discontinued. It sounds a lot like a smaller AC30, and when I use it with my 330/6, it´s a dream come true.

By all means Miguel, keep the Escorts' information and photos coming.

I'm pleased to bump this topic in anticipation of word from Mike Gregory, who very recently registered with RRF and will be sharing his stories and photos with The Liverpool Project.

Is there a better photo of John Kinrade with his Gretsch? It looks just like mine but I need to see a better shot of the bridge on his. I have the correct switch tips on mine now, this was from when I first got the 6117.

Hi everyone.

I'm new here having just found the site.

I have a rather unusual Escorts 45 seemingly released in 1972 on a private pressing. It sounds like it was recorded in the mid 60s and is a mono recording. I've never been able to find anything out about it. A-side is "Life that's what you give me" and the B-side is "shy girl". I've scanned it in so you can see it. I assume it's the same group....

Matthew, welcome to the Liverpool project and to the wonderful world of RRForum. :D
Let's let Peter take a gander, as my preliminary search for information was in vain. How did you get the record?

Thanks very much for the welcome and for your offer of help.

I got them (2 copies) in a batch of 3000(approx) 45s that I purchased from a private collection of a deceased gentleman in 1999. There were a lot of acetates and test pressings in there from the period 1963-1972 including these. Soundwise they are typical beat tracks, but with a noticeable Organ and guitar backed sound. Both sides are original songs to my knowledge but no writing credits are on the disc. The tracks sound like demos as the production is very basic AND I would date them 1966 by sound alone. It isn't an acetate or a test pressing. The matrix number on the playout is JEF PR 7016.

I wouldn't advise doing a google search on "escorts" and "shy girl" unless you have an adult filter on !

I can record them onto mp3/m4a if anyone wants to hear them.

Thanks

Matt

Cool, Matthew, we'd love it if you could post them in mp3.

I hear you about the search  Well, porn shields activated, cover me, I'm going in!
Actually if you search "The+Escorts" (with quotes) you can sort through some of that nonsense.

Hi Guys

I've recorded both sides onto mp3 so how do I get you to hear them (other than direct e-mail?)
