Tuning for 7 string lap steel

The header says it all...what are the most common tunings for the 7-string steel? I'm especially curious about tuning in "A".

Try the B11th
from the first string
E-C#-A-F#-D#-B-F#
It's a bit of A6 and very similar to a 9th tuning if you omit the 1st string.
OR if you are a guitarist, the following relates very easilly- E6 (G#-E-C#-B-G#-E-C#)or D for E13th

Very cool, Basil; Dan, also try one of Sol Hoopi's favorites: F#-E-C#-G#-E-D-B. It's a variation on the C# minor, and loads of fun if you slant the bar!

Basil: Thanks for your interesting post. Would you also comment on the sound and playability of your Rickenbacher Lap Steel and how you acquired it.
