Gary Louris of the Jayhawks and Golden Smog

Saw the Jayhawks over the weekend at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Gary played a red 360/12WB on a few songs, including a Golden Smog tune.

Do you have the Golden Smog CD Weird Tales? There are a couple of GREAT Rick 12 tunes on that played by Gary. I love that CD.

The Golden Smog tune they played was "Until You Came Along". That one could only be more Byrdsy if McGuinn sang on it.

Thinking back about the Rick Gary was playing, it had the white/chrome hardware combo. Wasn't black hardware standard on red Ricks. Could it have been ruby?

"Until You Came Along" is on Weird Tales and it is the best Rick 12 tune I've heard in a great long while. Almost that entire album is extremely enjoyable and it's not at all in a single style. There are various styles played including some dead-on Neil Young style lead work on a couple of tunes.
