"Believe it or not this instrument started life as the real deal manufactured in 1986 and was imported for a chap that immediately set about modifying it to an electric mandolin-Don’t ask why. The neck has been shaved down both in depth and width and the cow-horn style headstock design begs the question “Why”. ? The input socket was switched to the top side ( allegedly making it more comfortable to sit with) So there you have it.
It would make a great project for someone with skills to make/graft another neck and you will have a working instrument (did I mention one-of-a-kind?? The body and electrics are original save for the extra input cavity. I had planned to re-build it into a working instrument though it is way down my list of projects and will never ever get done. Rickenbacker will not supply a replacement neck and even then it would still be a mission. Bear in mind it is short scale so if planning on a transplant watch out for the scale length.
So $1.00 reserve including the original factory case"
