    This bass was manufactured in August of 1973, serial # MH3723, and it is in fair to very good shape considering its age. Of course this bass does have the usual wear and tear expected, nicks in the finish, scratches to the enamel, so forth and so on. Somewhere in the life of this bass, it was improved by a previous owner and there are three things that are non-original. 1: the original neck pickup has been replaced with an unknown brand of humbucker. The installation is adequate, but doesn't look to be professionally done in my opinion. However, with this addition, the bass sounds amazing. The installed pickup, though not of the active type but sounds like it is, provides an added depth and tone output that sounds far superior to that of the original. Its a shame to have altered such a great instrument, but the alteration is for the better. 2: the original tuners have been replaced. These are Kahlers I believe, and are very smooth and secure. 3: The enamel has been sanded from the back of the neck in order to increase this bass' playability and a brass nut was installed. It plays super smooth and easy and the action is really fast. If you are looking for an all original "look at it in its case" Rickenbacker, this isn't the one you want. This bass is a real player and has seen some action. I have had it for a little over ten years and it has seen non stop gigs.
