    Model 1000 serial #V7348.

This guitar is in very good condition for its age. The finish has only slight wear around the edges. It comes with the original case (both of the spring lock latches still work) and a unique leather neck strap. All original electronics, knobs, and toggle switch. The bridge cover is missing. The plastic cover that goes on the back is broken. I still have the cover and most of the original brads that held it on. The photo shows the cover removed so you can see the guitar has not been refinished. The original tuners still work but the plastic buttons are starting to degrade. Luckily, they are Klusons. I bought a new set with metal buttons and installed them on the guitar so it can be tuned without having to worry about breaking the originals. Kluson has been making essentially the same tuners for over fifty years so I was able to install the new ones without having to drill any additional holes in the headstock. The metal nameplate on the headstock is slightly dented and the enamel is a bit scratched up (see photos). I believe this could be restored by a person with the right skills. On the upside, most Rickenbackers have a plastic nameplate. It is rather rare to find one with a metal nameplate.

It has a very unique hammered silver finish that I believe is original. The guitar also has the coveted "toaster" pickup with that vintage bell-like tone everyone loves. It sounds amazing through a tube amplifier clean or with overdrive. It is a neck-through-body design. The neck is nice and straight. I was able to get quite good intonation and action by adjusting the bridge position. The thing has a very interesting strap system. Instead of having strap buttons at either end it has a single point of connection located in the back. It is a recessed eyelet located near the center of gravity of the instrument so it stays level when hanging from the neck strap.
