Rickenbacker double bound 4005, serial number GB-979 built in February 1967. Superbly refinished about 20 years ago as good as factory new. All else is original. The wood on this one has such depth and character it's hard to pick it up in the photos.
The action is extremely low. All electronics work great. You have to get use to the difference in output between the bridge and neck pickups. The bridge p.u. by itself is very thin sounding (sounds more like a guitar) because it is practically right up against the bridge where the strings barely vibrate. With both pickups on it's very sweet and you can blend them to your desire with the 'blender' knob. The neck pickup is nice and boomy. Regardless of the settings you choose it definitely sounds vintage 60's with those toaster pickups. Body is carved maple top sides and back. Three piece maple and walnut neck with lacquered rosewood fingerboard. 33 1/2" scale with the crushed pearl inlays and 20 frets.
Fret wear is surprisingly minimal. There is a little pitting on the original chrome hardware parts but better than normal for this age. Tuners work good and has original silver hard case.
