Walnut and maple construction
The Rickenbacker 4003JPS's body is crafted from high-grade walnut. While it's similar to maple tonally, walnut will provide a bit of added warmth. The maple used for the bass's neck, which runs through the entire length of the body, aids in maintaining its structural integrity. And the density of the walnut combined with the neck-through design is largely responsible for the instrument's famous treble punch and sustain. And the 4003JPS boasts a maple fretboard — a sought-after rarity for Rickys.
