- It was professionally re-fretted by StringKing guitar works they look after all my guitars so John knows this ricky in and out. I got John to make a couple of the normal upgrades you want on a ricky. I mean "upgrades" if you're a mainly a player collectors and purists would disagree but heyho.
First the re-fret was with jumbo wire rather then the very thin originals.
New Grover tuners as the old ones were getting bad. (The old ones are all in the case if you want to replace them)
Also I elected to have all the lacquer removed from the fretboard I know that divides opinion but there you go. I think it plays much better without lacquer.
I put heavier guage strings and had John move the nut over a tiny tiny amount which is a good idea if you put the fatter frets on.
I got the pickups wax potted because they were seriously prone to microphonic feedback.
