Only a handful of these were made. This extraordinary six-string instrument is tuned as a plectrum banjo [C-G-B-D], but with the C and G doubled in unison like a mando. The scale length is 24 3/4 inches, normal for a guitar, but slightly shorter than a standard plectrum [26"] and longer than a tenor [23"], so it really could be tuned either style. All the usual Rick tones are available from the dual "toaster" pickups, with the added mando/12-string effect of the unison configuration. Of course it has the Rik-O-Sound jack, which gives both pickups in stereo.

The previous owner purchased it in 1983 from Gruhn Guitars, in Nashville and when he sold it, he got Gruhn’s to provide a report, which reads as follows…….

GEORGE GRUHN'S EXAMINATION REPORT of November, 2004: "We certify that the plectrum instrument described below is, in our opinion, a Rickenbacker banjoline model 6006 made in December 1968. DESCRIPTION: This instrument appears to be in exceptionally fine condition showing virtually no wear. It conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period with hollow body with one soundhole, carved top, flat back, checkered bindings on the top and back edge of the body and around the peghead, bound fingerboard with large sparkle triangular inlays, two old style 'toaster top' pickups, typical Rickenbacker bridge, vibrato tailpiece. paired fourth and third strings, single first and second strings, and clear 'mapleglo' finish (other color options were available). This is a very rare model which was endorsed by Eddie Peabody. It was designed to be played and tuned as a plectrum banjo, although the scale length is only 24 3/4 inches the same as a standard Rickenbacker guitar."
