In the early '70s I decided to switch from guitar to bass so I got a jazz bass copy and joined a prog rock band. The guys in the band said I had to get a real bass and their ex bass player had two. One was a very old p bass and the other was a rick wich I chose. But I didn't have all of the money so ...

Just got my copy in the mail and it looks beautiful. I love reading accurate information about one of my favorite subjects-Rickenbacker basses. And the photos are wonderful. Good job!

I'd love to have a Ricky 8 string but I do have a Hagstrom. When I got it about 30 years ago I could not find strings so I got a set of light guage strings for the fundamentals and ,as RAM said,halved the diameter for the octaves. Here's where it got tricky-I could use a guitar string for the octave ...
