Here's another vote for the 650 Dakota with HBs. Mine is a blues-bending machine.

Cranked through a tweed era amp & you are in blues heaven!

Sorry I took so long to get back...Kris has been a HUGE help & so was Kenny. My Dakota should hit Santa Ana today or tomorrow & get this: they'll turn it in one (1) day. Is that fantastic service or what??

The pup wiring was not really accessible to me even when removed...I would have liked to ...

Well, here is what I tried today:

I cleaned the switch & pots with some Deoxit electronics cleaner.
Jiggling the switch or any wiring does NOT cause the problem to go away, not even for an instant.

I pulled the pup out & started shooting wires.

Since I don't know what the 4 colored wires ...

OK here's what I got:

When I ohm-checked the output from the output jack with everything wide-open the neck HB is at 110K while the bridge is at 13K.

Furthermore, when I roll the neck vol down, nothing happens...the resistance stays at 110K.
When I roll the bridge vol down, the resistance ...

Ha! No Petey impersonations...I played it 2 nights ago & all was fine...

Do you have instructions for checking the resistance at the output jack? Specifically, where to place my meter leads?

Help!!! 650 pup not working!

Last night my 650 neck HB freaked...it now only has about 1/10th normal output & is VERY weak, thin, & way too trebly...barely audible...
My bridge pup is affected too...it has normal full output but is really trebly...

Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting??

I use one with a Tech 21 Tri-A.C. as my preamp, or even my POD. The PE is fantastic transparent power. It has become my main rig.

I just bought a tiny (5 watt) Crate Palomino made in the USA tube amp with a line out that I'm gonna run through the PE 60.

I couldn't be happier with mine. It will ...

I've had my 650 Dakota since Oct 2005 & am still diggin' the great HB tones. I can get Beano LP tones if I dial in the amp...but I can also get SO many other great tones too. I like the versatility...it suits whatever mood I'm in at the time.

650s are great lead guitars.

Great pic of your beautiful Sierra Kris! My Dakota is exactly like his Sierra except chrome in place of the gold & I swapped out the knobs for vintage TV style knobs so I can see where I have them set better.

Those are humbuckers on your Sierra, right? They look just like the humbuckers on my ...

Try the 650 series. My Dakota with 'buckers is a blues/classic rock lead machine. Flat, wide 'board, oil finish, great-sounding HBs and a very fast neck.
Simply an outstanding blues guitar for crankin' tones!

Try one if you can find one!

My Dakota absolutely rocks! It is incredibly versatile & REALLY shines at playing the blues. It will get downright nasty. Yet I play in my church praise band & can dial in a sort of jangly classic Ric tone if I go with a crystal clean Twin or AC-30 setting on my Pod.

It is perfect for hard rock ...

RIC sent out several manuals with the misprint specifying 8-38s for all long scale 6-strings.

When I asked, I was told to use the manual on the website which specifies the 10-42s.
