Another Night: The Sire Recordings 1979–1981

I know this forum is pretty quiet but here's some news of note. Awful artwork, but this looks like a winner otherwise: 2-CD collection of British Invasion superstars’ return. Contains 29 tracks from all versions of the albums, including B-sides and different mixes plus one previously unissued track!...

Re: Unknown Tony Jackson Song

The link in the opening post is gone (does anybody have a copy?) but I'm assuming it refers to the 70th installment of the BBC Top of the Pops transcription discs. As Michael noted, the Tony Jackson group played these songs: A1 –Tony Jackson Group Almost There 2:15 A8 –Tony Jackson (3) Interview Int...

Re: "The Tracks Of Our Years" CD

The CD is recent (I want to say October 2011 for some reason) studio re-recordings of favourite hits and album tracks.

That's about all I know - I don't even have a tracklist.

Also, Chris Hillman of The Byrds paid tribute to The Searchers when he recorded "When You Walk in the Room" for his "Like A Hurricane" album.

Re: The Searchers on British TV 13/05/08

One problem I see with iTunes is that I suspect a large portion of The Searchers' target market isn't set up for that. Even so, the main problem that The Searchers have, as I understand things, is that recording takes time, and therefore money, away from touring. If they take two weeks to record an ...

Re: RETURN OF BOTV

I'm going to buck the trend and say version 1. Version two is a little too clean in comparison.

Richard: Perhaps this topic from the Searchers' Forum Archives may be of some assistance. Alas, that link no longer works. But I'll try and resurrect this thread from the dead anyway. Here's a list of tracks that only appear on the five 2001 Sanctuary album reissues in mono. Also, where applicable,...

Re: Can a 60's group be justified in using name if no members

There must be 50+ versions of The Drifters going now. Amazing! That's exactly why I cannot support a famous band (in name only) continuing on without any of its original members remaining an active part. To be fair, that would exclude "Save The Last Dance For Me" and "Up On The Roof&...

Rare Searchers...

I think I've managed to get hold of almost all of the Searchers' official oeuvre, although I'm missing one or two things. I'm wondering what, if anything, is available in unofficial circles, and how one might go about obtaining such gems. I have had much success finding rare material by the Beatles,...

Hi Sheena... thanks for the welcome (I tried to slip in unnoticed, but I guess that didn't work out). I guess my question really was whether or not the versions are the same. I wouldn't want to pay for another live album if I already have it, bar one track. Roy, I agree that the band wouldn't get mo...

Did anyone find out whether "On Stage" was really all-new or not? I have Live III, and despite the so-so production values it's a fun listen, and I'd like more. In other news, I'm not sure why there'd be a problem with people selling copies on Amazon or elsewhere. Since the CDs all come fr...
