Re: Keeping our 12-strings at concert pitch

HI, Ashley: Thanks for your reply!! I just came back from my local luthier, who lives only one mile from my house!!! He doesall of my guitar work for the RM 370-12. He noticed that the Schaller tuner for the G string was loose. He took it out and saw that there was a ragged edge-- that probably was ...

Keeping our 12-strings at concert pitch

Hi, everyone: Well, it happened again today!!! I will be playing live for 300 people later this afternoon. So, to make my Roger McGuinn 370-12 sound better, I TRIED to tune up to concert pitch. BUT, OF COURSE, THE HIGH "G" STING SNAPPED!!!! have been told for years that to reduce tension o...

How does Roger get that sound???

Hi, everyone: I just came across this McGuinn video. I absolutely love the sound of Roger's 12-string on this song. Notice how deep and full the low "E" string sounds when he hits a "G" chord-- and how clear and trebly the open "D" string sounds when he hits a "D&q...

Re: What? No Jangle?

Hi: I was the one who spoke with Roger's wife, Camilla, about two years ago in Connecticut before his show. Among the many questions I asked was: " Why doesn't Roger play more songs with his RM 370-12?" As most of us now know, for years, Roger mostly plays his Martin 7-string guitar. I've ...

New Rick 12-strings

Hi, everyone: There hasn't been a new topic in a while. So here goes: I own a Roger McGuinn signature 12-string, 370-RM, which was made in 1989-90. Has anyone here on the forum bought a more recent Rick 12-string? If so, how does it sound-- compared to older models? If I were to sell my McGuinn mode...

Re: McGuinn's amp/sound in late 1970s

Thanks, Tim:

It looks like Roger mostly used Fender amps, with some kind of compression.

McGuinn's amp/sound in late 1970s

Hi, everyone: This may really be a Steve Lasko question, but: I've been listening lately to the McGuinn, Clark, & Hillman's (and Crosby) San Francisco live CD (1978). I really like the SOUND of Roger's 12-string Rickenbacker here and during other "live" gigs (Bottom Line) during this e...

Re: Back From Rio

Jim:

It's too bad that McGuinn, Crosby, and the gang never reunited after the 1973 Reunion album. I really miss the blending of voices with Roger and David :D

Re: Best guitar cable for Rickenbcker 12

Thanks, everyone!!! For those members who suggested BAYOU cables-- could you tell me why? I went to the web site, and I would like to know more about the "first" and "second" connectors. Is "gold-plated" better and why? What other tips can you give me??? :D Thank you

Re: Best guitar cable for Rickenbcker 12

Hi, everyone: Just a little follow-up to my dilemma! I haven't had a chance to run to Guitar Center to try out different guitar cables to ELIMINATE the radio stations being picked up on my RM 370-12. It's funny, but the more I have tried to check into the REAL difference more expensive guitar cables ...

Re: My Back Pages

Yes. I agree. Roger's Rick DOES sound different on "My Back Pages" and that same sound doesn't appear elsewhere-- in my opinion-- on the "Younger Than Yesterday" LP. I don't know if he used a Vox. My RM 370-12, when played through a Vox AC-15, sounds nothing like it!!! And, my fa...
