I'll bring this one back to life.

I've wanted one of these for a long time, so I used the opportunity of this conversation to selflessly obtain one (a Korean made example from the first production run) for the purposes of research and study.

Chris Squire on "America"; Dave Meros on Spock's Beard's TKOS (or any of them, really); John Wetton on any King Crimson stuff; The Ox on "Live at Leeds"; Colin Moulding on XTC's "Nonesuch"; +1 on Pete Farndon and the Smiths; JPJ on "Houses of the Holy".

Welcome, Chris! Receiving Fragile for Christmas back in the early 70s was a turning point in my life. I can't thank you enough for the happiness your music and playing has brought to me over the years.

Hi Dave, great to see you here! I actually thought your Rick tone was more pronounced on Spock's Beard when compared to your other post Neal stuff (I liked the sitar, too). You are doing a lot of the writing now, tone wise it seems like a pretty even mix of Rick, fretless, and "other"; do you write ...

St. Louis is not a problem, although other than the zoo and the Galleria I don't know the place very well. That's what Mapquest is for, right?

When? I wouldn't be able to come down the middle two weekends in August (11 and 18), otherwise just about any time.

Sparks - Kimono My House
Simple Minds - Sons and Fascination
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the ********
The Alarm - Declaration
an 80s mixture CD of my own design

These, or lots like them, are for longer drives. At home, at work, and for short drives it's all classical.

Oops, I forgot that ...

Thanks, Philip. I had a very similar experience to Shaun and now use an Ashdown EVO II preamp. I still have the SVP, though; this weekend I'll dust it off and see what happens. Does your 4001 still have the cap in it?

Bob, please! I was alluding to the Ric that got away, sir! Don't bother me with ...

Philip, that's a great tone! I have an SVP Pro and a GS212, but my Ricks never sounded that good, you have the touch! I don't know if it's cool to ask about settings, but if you wouldn't mind sharing I'd appreciate it. Oh, and I'll need a 4001...um, Bob...

Back in the mid '70s you were considered to be cutting edge cool if you could somehow contrive to listen to KSHE, which is 90 miles away in St. Louis. I distinctly remember hearing "I Don't Need No Doctor" as I sat in my room surrounded by about twenty feet of Radio Shack FM antenna.

I also saw ...
