Re: From The Jam
I was surprised by their performance too.
It's actually better than with Weller, at least on video. Weller's singing seemed to be too aggressive on almost any song.
They do have a second guitarist now though, which adds a lot to the sound obviously

Re: 360v64 or 360c63 Visual Distictions
I have run into a bit of confusion. After doing a bit more digging, there appears to be some 360c63's with RED side markers and an R tailpiece. Any verdict on these guys? Were they made in separate batches? Are these fake? They certainly look legit. Were there different 360c63 models made for Japan...

The serial number should say enough. V64's were discontinued erly 2000's the outline shape is different too. The curve behind the upper horn is deeper on the C series and is more like the originals. you can see this clearly in this picture of my V64 http://www.rickresource.com/register/user_images/8...

Re: 370/12 nut mod
I think that I'd like to try the brass nut. Where did you source it? Did you make it from scratch or was it a pre-cut nut blank? The few brass nut blanks that I have been able to find look to be not tall enough for the Rickenbacker. The current nut is 1 5/8" x 1/8 " x 25/64" (LxWxH)....

Re: 370/12 nut mod
It was fun, but it took way more time than a standard nut would. The result is excellent though. Somehow the brass goes very well with the 12 stringthark wrote:Cool! Hadn't thought of using brass. How was it to work with?

Re: Seams visible
I'ts normal.
Your 330 has a 2 piece body with the neck glued in, the line could be in the center. It will not necessarily appear.
Your 620 has 2 body wings glued to the sides of the neck. 2 lines can be visible.

Re: 330/6 Not as bright sounding as expected
Your hi gain pickups are wound much hotter than Weller's early seventies ones.
They produce a much darker tone to begin with. It'll be quite difficult to get that sound by changing the pots only.
Unwinding them to 7 or 8 kOhm should clear that up.

Re: Passive pickup "clipping"
Are you sure the signal effectively clips?
You could hear string vibration limited by hitting the frets, which gives a buzz sound.
It seems too me the output from pickups is to weak to even come close to clipping. Just think about how hard you have to push an amp to get there

If it's a good player and the sound is good, leave it

Re: 4003W table not flat (at a unconvenient spot)
If it really really really really would bother, you can consider the option of building a jig and sanding it completely flat. Don't worry about refinishing, it's not hard to apply an oil finish. It would be a lot of sanding work, be careful too not to hit the side of the neck. What it would mean str...

Re: 4003W table not flat (at a unconvenient spot)
Hi everyone, I come back on the subject because I'm still a bit worried that I might have lost a huge lot of value. So here's a simple question: how can I positively identify my instrument as being genuine? I least I would like to be sure I'm not the proud owner of a Chinese rip-off. I still can't ...
