Actually, I was being diplomatic when I said Macca was 'disappointed' in the new Rickenbacker's sound. The way they put it was much more emphatic.

Oh, who knows for sure. His original Rick (a 1964 4001S) doesn't have "stereo" unless it was added sometime later.

Just reporting, roughly, what his guitarist said. The main point was that the guitarist would like him to play the Rickenbacker but that the guitar tech wasn't keen.
