Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
Ok, apparently not. I was confused as the dealer then asked me if I wanted to redirect my deposit to other merchandise in the store, thus strongly implying that my mandolin deposit was no longer valid due to back orders being "cleared".

Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
Then one of your authorized dealers is providing false information.
That quote indicating that back orders were being cleared was copied verbatim.
Also, I referred to "dealer deposits", not manufacturer deposits, to indicate deposits being paid to dealers, not RIC.

Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
I just received this note from my RIC dealer on September 13...
"We just got word from Rickenbacker that they are clearing the Mandolin back-orders."
It went on to include this quote:
"No backorders or new orders for the Mandolins at this time. I’m not saying we’ll never make them again, just ...

Re: Just bought a 350V63 on Musicians Friend for $924!
Just a postscript to this thread...
I had the guitar checked out top-to-bottom at the local Boston-area Ric dealer as part of a standard setup. I prefer the old 10-42 compressed strings so probably would have had this done anyway. Other than fixing a high fret the guitar had no issues. Total cost ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
I just hope I didn't inadvertently spark some kind of mandolin-mania as a result of this post! Seriously, if anyone was thinking about ordering a new 5002V58 then I suggest you call around the dealers and either try to find one already in stock or, like I did, claim one in the finish I wanted from ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
Called the dealer back this morning with the "planned vs. scheduled" news and got my name next to the open order from April, 2009, so if anything I moved up in line after all of this rather than back. Price was fair, too! I can't imagine receiving this high level of support from any other company ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
That is awesome news! The dealer interpreted the message as the mandolins had been discontinued; they didn't want to take my deposit if the order was never going to be fulfilled. I'll call them back, tell them what the CEO said :D , and place my name next to the old order. Wilcutt has a really nice ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
I called one of the dealers from the list who I've purchased from before. I was told that they had a 5002V58 on order since April 7, 2009 that wasn't yet spoken for. At this point I was ready to leave a deposit. Given the age of the order, they decided to first call Rickenbacker to make sure that ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
I just called Rickenbacker customer service and they confirmed that the dealer is no longer authorized and as a result will not be receiving any orders. I then called that dealer who promised to refund my deposit even though they were obviously annoyed at having to return my $300 down payment. So I ...

Re: Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
I agree, thanks! I have an order from 2009 and, assuming it was legitimately placed, really hope that it will still be sent to the dealer who, for whatever reason, is no longer authorized.

Deposit with Dealer who is no longer authorized
I have an instrument on deposit with a dealer who is no longer on the authorized list of dealers. When I go to their website they no longer have any Rics listed for sale anymore. They have been in business for a while and I've bought new Rics from them in the past, but am concerned that they won't ...

Re: Just bought a 350V63 on Musicians Friend for $924!
After putting it through its paces last night is seems to be doing fine at standard tuning. Neck is straight, nothing obvious. It would be interesting to know its history and how it ended up at MF with a "level 4 repair only" classification. It's a late 2012 model so it hasn't been around all that ...

Re: Just bought a 350V63 on Musicians Friend for $924!
Guitar arrived today. Double boxed with original Ric shipping box on the inside. Carefully removed contents and silver reissue case was inside. Carefully opened case and found the guitar. No scratches, cracks, or other signs of defects or tampering. Serial number indicates it's a 2012 model. Mint ...
