Re: 4001 C64 tailpiece replacement?

I have Hipshots on two of mine and love them. Much easier to install than the new Rick piece. Intonation is easy as well.

Re: The Rickenbacker Moment That Brought You Onboard

I'm a huge Squire, McCartney and Rutherford fan but it was the intro to Smoke On The Water that got me first. Had no idea what the bass was but boy it sounded good. Then it was Yes and buying my own and now I'm hooked (like all of us here I presume......)

Actually there are 4 on Reverb; 3 Mapleglo and 1 Fireglo (the same Fireglo is also on e-bay).

No, just the straight ahead hookup. Sounds good to me!

Dane Wilder's VVT mod for 4004

I'm sure this has been discussed here before but if anyone is considering this mod; DO IT. The 4004 sounded good before, but it sounds great now. Much cleaner tone. Thanks Dane for the fine work!

Re: 4004 Neck Profiles

My 2015 4004CII is a bit on the chunky side compared to my '91 V-63 or '72 4001. Not huge but a bit thicker. Still a nice bass.

Re: To soon to ask?

That was a touching moment. Looks like his 4001CS backup bass. Shirley they wouldn't use THE ONE as a prop!

4004 Neck thickness

What years did 4004's have chunky necks? Was it the same timeline as the 4003's? I'm starting to get interested in them and don't know much about them and have never seen one up close. (Can't find them in stores around here). Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

More thread drift: any word on Vince Gallo's book?
(Just wondering since it's been a few years since the last post on this thread)

What do you think that thing weighs? Methinks one song per night would be quite enough!

Wow (wiping away the drool). Where do you guys find these incredible basses? I'm glad to have my pristine '72 FG but damn! Absolutely beautiful
