Re: Pickup pole screws?

I recently bought a 330W and love it but the G-string sounds a bit louder than any of the others. I tried to adjust the hex screw under that string but I can’t get it to move. None of the others move either. Aren’t the pole screws supposed to be adjustable on these high gain pickups? If not, why ar...

Re: 330 Hi Gain Pickup Construction?

The only magnet on a hi gain pickup is that rectangular one at the bottom of the pickup. The polepieces are steel (either the old style push-in or the threaded adjustable variety over the last 15-odd years). The coil and bobbin is around the steel polepieces with the magnet underneath the pickup. To...

Re: Older "R" Tailpiece Casting Material

The first generation R tailpieces were cast in solid brass, they're much heavier and do not break, ever. These are easily identifiable by having saw-cut slots on the back for all the strings, and all of these were 12-string cut (even when used for 6-strings). The bracket is also unique, with a diffe...

Re: Will the Mastery bridge work with a 325v59 with a Bigsby?

I think you will be impressed with how well the Mastery M5 bridge works, with a vibrato. That bowtie bridge does nothing for the vibrato (i.e. it’s a fixed bridge without any movement to the saddles). A Mastery has stationary saddles, but they’re designed to allow the strings easier movement with a ...

Re: Rickenbacker.com has been offline recently

So, my new 325c64 arrived today. No Owners Manual included - gives you a QR code to access Owner's Manual. Click on QR code and what do I get? The website that isn't working. Is it unreasonable to expect to either have an Owners Manual included with the guitar or a QR code that actually takes me to...

Re: Knobs

I've always preferred the silver-topped Kurz Kasch knobs, myself.

The black "vintage" knobs look right on certain models that are supposed to have them, but the silver topped look better on the rest. Cost-savings to have one knob type, I guess.

Re: '64' RM199 rebuild continued, detective work.... (seeking 64 jack plate).

The original pickguard for this RM1999 was made of 1/8" thick acrylic sheet in #7328 "sign white" color, which is medium translucent.

Re: '64' RM199 rebuild continued, detective work.... (seeking 64 jack plate).

Finally, somebody suggested in my original thread that I replace the 73 jack plate with a 64; can anyone help with that please? I disagree with this practice, it only leads to future confusion (and even deception) years down the line. Think years after we’re gone, this stuff will still be around. P...

Re: Rickenbacker.com has been offline recently

I wonder.... Will the new site sell all their instruments direct like Fender and Gibson.....(doubt it, but it would be very cool if...!) Direct to consumer (DTC) would be a nightmare. Fender and Gibson can do that because they produce a vast number of instruments each year and they're giant enough ...

I would be cool if it was the first 1996 ever made but that's probably impossible to prove a good 60 years (as of this month) later.
...Actually it can be proven (but it's not the first one).

Re: 12 string guitars with curved headstock

Squier has reissued the XII and in my limited taste tests is better than any ‘60s example, but still pales compared to a properly set up Rick 12er. Gotta disagree on that. The “Alternate Reality” Electric XII (which wasn’t a Squier, it was MIM) was a valiant effort and cool to see in production aft...

Re: Touch Up paint for Fireglo, or any other RIC color?

Any touch-up you put there is guaranteed to look worse than it does right now. Since Rickenbacker CV finish is catalyzed (unlike lacquer) to does not touch-up easily. The touch-up paint does not melt into earlier layers like lacquer wood. Sometimes you can get away with Jetglo touch-ups using enamel...

Re: Early Rose Morris 1996

Very nice indeed! I’m so glad your dad didn’t sell that guitar and was able to pass it on to you. Hold on to it! The serial number is very easy to decipher and you are right about most of what you wrote. The guitar was made in January 1964 and was in the very first shipment of guitars going to Rose ...

Re: Rick AzureGlo = Finish colour shift under lights?

Yep echoing what others here said.

It's simply an ambered clear coat, it should give that vaguely tan color under blacklight. That's normal.

If it's early 80s and it's blue, the guitar is Azureglo, no question about it.
