Re: Replacement Ric bass case

When I got a new 4003 I posted that I wish I had the old style case and Mr Hall responded similarly. He said they dropped them off the roof and the skb protected the sample bass inside better. I'd just go with their new one.

Re: "New, improved" Rotosounds?

I tried a couple other new sets and I must have been imagining things. I think the Rotosounds are best for me.

Re: "New, improved" Rotosounds?

I changed my MG 4003 back to rotosounds in the old pkg and rembember going wow. I did the same on my jetglo in the new packaging and was not as impressed as I expected. Not scientific, but I noticed something less sparkly than expected. Can't say for sure, but this topic has my attention.

Re: 4001 Amp Settings/EQ

Not sure if this will do you any good but I have my Eden flat. My Ric is pot out wide open on treble and bass VoIP slightly rolled off. Seems to be a little sweet spot there.

Re: Strings on new 4003's

POTR sells a Curt Mangan set with those stock RIC gauges. Very nice if you like those thinner A and D strings.

Re: "New, improved" Rotosounds?

I still use them. Just my personal preference. I went to the stock sizes of ric strings but too much twang due to the gauge for me.

Re: Sorta-Newbie Advice

I'd go for a new 4003 with a warranty and get exactly what you want. I've bought new the last two times and am really pleased with the new production product. A good solid investment as well. They hold their value.

Re: Is this the norm?

My new '14 Jetglo is slightly off as well. I like mine with both pu's on full and in "vintage" No need to change a thing for me

See I told you the Force would lead you to a new one. I got one from Wildwood two weeks ago. Congratulations! Post pics when you can. It will be well packed and well set up.

Re: string gauge on new 4003

i just put a set of the Curt Mangan strings in the RIC gauges (from POTR) on my new 4003. Think I am going to go with the factory recommended gauge. They do seem to have a nice zing to them.

Nothing better than a factory new 2014 anyway.

Re: Maple Glo 4003, '09 vs.'14

It's difficult to pass up a brand new 2014 4003 with a warranty through Wildwood, POTR or Dave's. Just sayin'....

Use the Force, it will guide you to the new one...

I removed the pickup cover yesterday. That always seems to mark the end of the evaluation period.
