Re: 1964 Fg 4000 model - appraised value

Hi John, I suppose rarity doesn't always translate to value though. I have not tried but I doubt that I would get more than $7.8K for this bass. On the other side of the coin, I think I am going to disagree regarding the availability of the Gretsch Roundup. I have had my peripheral vision on steady ...

Re: 1964 Fg 4000 model - appraised value

Thanks guys. It's a straight trade...and a fair one I think.
I hate to see her go but I have always wanted a Roundup and the $15K they usually list for is a steep climb.
In the final analysis I suppose it's all just about getting better toys to charge our Mojo makers :)

Re: 1964 Fg 4000 model - appraised value

O.K. here are some more pics.
I have the chance to trade her for a Gretsch Roundup in so-so condition. The Roundup is worth about $7K but after cleaning her up I figure more like around $10K

Re: 1964 Fg 4000 model - appraised value

No route for the toaster. Just the usual extended channels for the truss rod. She is all original, including the horseshoe.
Still $6-$7K in this market? I had hoped it was worth more than that.
Hmmmm.

Roundup

I am working on a deal for a Gretsch Roundup that was on E-Bay and I am now trading for. Can you guys please have a look at it and tell me if it is worth the asking price in the condition it is in. It looks like it needs a bit of work but it is priced at 25%-35% below what a clean one would sell for...

1964 Fg 4000 model - appraised value

Can anyone give me a reasonable estimate based on present market conditions what a 1964 model 4000 bass in FG would be worth today? Not what it might appraise at but what I might actually get if I tried to sell it. It is in pretty good condition...has a few marks here and there. Not perfect but all ...

Looking for a pair of transitional high gains for a Light Show restoration.
Anyone have a pair or advice on where to buy?

The Talkbox enigma - any Vocoder experience out there?

My band is performing "Tell Me Something Good" and there is talkbox a'plenty in that song! I want to buy one and have been looking at lots of stuff on line - but having never used one before I don't know what the best direction is for me. I want to spend the least amount of money for the e...

Re: Storage and display of vintage Ricks

Really liking the idea of slatwall. Never thought of it as being a "home solution" since I automatically default to "guitar store" whenever I see it. Really though, I am not as concerned about the actuall vertical hanging of the guitars as I am about exposure to the elements over...

Storage and display of vintage Ricks

I have amassed quite the collection over the years and recently, on a tour of my somewhat neglected basement, I found myself staring at all the vintage cases stacked neatly against a wall. I realized that they have been sitting there for years and many never get played or even admired. It seems to m...

The year was 1964 - The 4000 bass

I have a '64 4000 model bass and noticed that the fretboard has no lacquer.

I have seen another '64 the same way...no lacquer and no signs that there ever was any either.

Is that the way the basses were issued in 1964? Maybe just the 4000 model?

Anyone know for sure?

Russ
