Here's what I can tell you from a quick look through some photos of Rick guitar wiring looms:
Through 1962, either red Astrons or Sprague orange drops were used, no blue molded caps.
From 1964 through 1967 blue molded caps with 'made in US' were used.

Re: Anyone know the history of this Capri?
Your Capri was likely made in the 2nd half of 1958, judging by the serial number and the three dots on the fretboard at the 12th fret. Also relevant for dating is the length of the soundhole, which is "intermediate" length. Later in 1958 a shorter soundhole was introduced and continued thr...

Re: Fireglo - brown v red
I have a 360/12V64 from 1987 that has a similar "dark Fireglo" finish.
Not the best photo, but you get the idea -- it's not as dark in person, but it's dark!

Wanted to Photograph -- '60s Lefty Roundtop 360 series
I'm assisting Martin and Paul Kelly in putting together a comprehensive book on Rickenbacker instruments. The Kelly brothers are located in the UK and have authored the book, Fender the Golden Age -- 1954-1970. Martin is looking for at least one lefty Rickenbacker "roundtop" 360, 365, 370,...

POTR is out of stock of the TI Flats 12-string sets.Tommy wrote:Can't you buy a few sets before Chris shuts down? A set on your guitar can last years. If you buy three or four right now you should be good for a lifetime.

Nice story. At the risk of duplication this is my take on his Rickenbacker Model 425 Peter, I just read through your take on the George Harrison 425. Very nicely done! This guitar is currently on display at the Rock and Roll HOF and Museum as part of the "Play It Loud" exhibit, which orig...

Re: 1969 4001 Missing Link or Not Original
I updated the Register on this 4001 after seeing the ebay ad with the serial number. There were no photos of the bass in the Register entry. After I updated it, I had a suspicion as to who the prior owner was, and contacted him. He told me that the bass had been refinished and other mods made. I hav...

Interesting playing style. Capo seems to be on 5th fret. On his "lead" parts, he appears to mute the low E and A strings with his thumb and plucks the upper strings with his fingers

Re: Tuning the twelve string
Where is your string breaking? If at the bridge, you may want to check and see if the bridge saddle slot is "smooth" and there isn't a burr there that's cutting into the string. If breaking at the tuner post, would suggest a number of winds around the post. You should be able to tune that ...
