Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
Good move! I like them both. I believe RIC has changed their 12 string set recently to have a .046 low E and they just say Nickel Round Wound on the label now. http://boutique.rickenbacker.com/STRING-SET-GTR-12-STR-10-46_p_680.html I think that is why POTR is offering the previous Compressed Wound ...

Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
Just buy the MB and then decide which to sell in six months or so. That would combine the "head" (keep what I have & what works & I like) and "heart" (things being equal or close, I like the MB finish better). Sort it out later... 8) I'm guessing that I will/ m...

Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
Did the A/B play today. Both are terrific guits and really well set up. The main difference is a smidge more relief on the neck on mine (the MB is essentially flat), and the Pyramids v. Ric Strings. Bottom line: I don't think it's worth the $350 cash differential to do the trade. The MB owner & ...

Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
IMO the Monte crushes the other one like a grape. Of course, I'm biased - I owned a similar Monte Brown 660/12 briefly and had to sell it. It might just be that one :( Realistically though, the salmon-ish fireglo is also killer. If you like it and it plays well, I'd probably lean toward keeping wha...

Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
I'd keep what you have due to the wood's character. If you truely want the MB I would do an even trade but certainly add no dollars, it's just too plain compared to the FG. Of course everyone has their opinion. I would also be cautious with any guitar that has or has had Pyramids installed. I have ...

Re: How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
All depends on the cash outlay. All other questions you've kind of answered for yourself! I'd throw in no more than maybe $200-300, but then again I'm not exactly nuts about Monty Browns. Remember the upcharge list price was only $100 IIRC!!! Thanks for the info/reminder on the upcharge, I ...

How much more for a Montezuma Brown 660/12 than a flamey FG?
I have a very nice and good playing '02 FG 660/12, like it a lot. Of course, the next year Ric came out with Montezuma Brown as COY, which is a wonderful Ric color IMO (and into '04), so I was a little sorry I missed it. Now I have the chance to trade my like-new '02 FG 660/12 for an '04 Montezuma B...

Re: Thinking of Modifying Your Gretsch 5120
I agree on the value/quality of the 5120, I lucked into a new one for dirt cheap $ about 4 yrs. ago ... I pinned the bridge, added a rocking bar bridge (may go to a TruArc), and when I put TV Jones Filtertrons (plus in the bridge, stock in neck), the cheap oem wiring harness was a problem so I added...

Re: I got screwed royally by a well known Rickenbacker dealer.
with all due respect to your disappointment, I may have missed some facts but ... 1. You did not put down a deposit for this guitar, it appears (am I correct?). If so, then really, you had no guarantee or assurance of anything... words are nice but I guess I just wouldn't expect any dealer to reliab...
