Re: 4001 RI (Rugged Individual)

Generally speaking, the luthier is correct in that a refin would diminish the value of the guitar in most cases. But it's your guitar, and it's not the Mona Lisa, so do what you like with it. Rics of that vintage are worth a couple grand, and while you may knock few hundred off the resale with a ref...

Re: 340/12 on the way!

She arrived yesterday and my daughters are already begging me not to sell this one, it's beautiful.

No need to review the guitar on this forum, although I will say that she has the fattest neck of any Rick I've ever played. Anyway, it's good to be back in the club.

340/12 on the way!

I've owned several Rics in the past few years, and as much as I love them, circumstances have prevented me from keeping them. Of the 4 or 5 that I've owned, selling a Mapleglo 370/12 last winter has been my biggest regret. I loved the huge sound of the middle pickup position with all three PUPs on, ...

Harrison v64 with "R" Tailpiece

I saw one for sale locally, but it's got an "R" Tailpiece? Is it still a v64? If not, how else is it different? The seller believes it's a '91.

Thanks in advance.

Re: How much is my 1991 330 worth

FG/MG/JG are easier to price, but Non standard colors can command higher prices although they're typically a little harder to move.

Heads up! Great deal on 330 in Charlston Area!

1990 Blue 330 offered at $550,

... no affiliation with the seller. I'd buy it right now if it was in Boston.

Re: Is this a fake 360?

Does the 365 model mean it was made in the 70s or 80s, or has Ric been making them off and on all along?

Is this a fake 360?

I just sent the guy a text, but noticed the odd tailpiece and got to wondering what the whole story is. I wouldn't buy without better photos, but I thought I'd solicit the opinions of the rick forum too:

Re: 2 sets of Toasters, 3 guitars... what is best and where?

I'm basing my judgment off of a limited sample, but to my ears the new high-gains seem a lot more articulate than the older ones. This seemed most noticeable for me in the neck pickup. My '88 330, which was a wonderful guitar, had a neck pickup that was muddy to the point of near uselessness. By con...

I think I prefer the newer High-Gains over the older ones, and would put the toasters on the older guitars.

Re: PUP selector on Ric 370-12

Thanks guys, looking forward to playing the guitar. So it sounds like there are some real tonal differences between the 360 & 370? I've only owned 330s in the past and love everything about them, but am looking forward to giving its sibling a go.

PUP selector on Ric 370-12

I just pulled the trigger on a used 370-12 that I found for a pretty great price, and it occurred to me that I don't have a clue how the pup selector works with three pickups. Is it wired like a strat? It seems like it would make sense to have a 3 way switch wired for Bridge/Bridge-Middle/Middle-Nec...

Re: Paul Weller with 360/12 MG

What is that monstrosity Weller is playing in Scott Baillie's pics?

I know he's since migrated over to an old SG, Casino, and '50s Teles, but does anyone know if he ever picks up his Rics these days? The guy's still got about the best tone in the business.

Re: Does this '80s 4003 look legit?

"the wings fell off and glued backed together and painted it to hide the glue job."

This makes some sense, especially considering that the front of the body is also painted.

Re: Does this '80s 4003 look legit?

I exchanged a few e-mails with the seller. He's willing to ship and seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm not going to go for it.

Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://neworleans.craigslist.org/msg/1510424806.html
