Re: Wish List - Rickenbacker bass Offerings and Features
Wishlist? A metal -- not plastic -- treble pickup cover for the 4003 please. My Fenders all have em, my Gibsons all have them. I'd like one on my Rick please and thank you.

Re: 4003 inlay material?
Congrats on getting it through customs. Did you consider maybe he had a gig he wanted to play it at?   Could be -- they're now quibbling over the "tortoiseshell" pickguard on this telecaster bass http://i.imgur.com/SqGMv.png http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq123/devnull...

Re: Vintage push-pull mod - again ?
The simplest way is with the factory diagram: http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/19507.pdf Note the comment around C3, the .0047 inline cap, "C3 is replaced by a shunt on newer models." All the push-pull has to do is be an SPST to bypass this cap. And that is what the factory does. Mr. JH i...

Re: Vintage push-pull mod - again ?
OK, got it. Thanks!
I was missing a ground from the bass volume to the bass tone and was trying to wire the push/pull upside down.
I redrew how I've wired it.

Vintage push-pull mod - again ?
I'm trying to do the vintage push-pull mod on my 4003, but am having trouble reconciling the diagram and various photos. Similar to this thread: http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=407098 I have the newer PotR pushpull pot with 3 lugs/2 lugs rather than the older style with the...

Re: Truss rod nut size?
How are you adjusting them? This type is NOT to be adjusted by just cranking on the nuts! You have to loosen them, set the relief you want and then tighten the rods to lock it into place. Check out Joey's Bass Notes: http://joeysbassnotes.com/Rick_maint.htm Joey knows his stuff and these need to be...

Re: Truss rod nut size?
What do you guys use to do neck adjustments? I finally found a kinda round-the-corner 3/8" wrench thing, so I can get at them.
Still the hardest truss rod adjustment I've ever done, and it's still not right -- too much relief but getting better.

Truss rod nut size?
I have an early 80s 4003 with the russ rod adjustment at the body end. What size should the nuts be? I see lots of 1/4" truss rod adjustment tools on PotR -- bought one but it doesn't fit. Mine seem to be more like 3/8" -- does that seem right or have they been changed out? Can a 1/4"...

Re: 4003 inlay material?
Can anyone point me to a resource outlining the source of the mother of pearl-ish inlay material on an early 80s 4003? Customs wants to know and won't let it in the country until I can show them. Did you manage to clear your bass from customs? Yes! Jumped through all the hoops and they finally let ...

Re: 4003 inlay material?
I think RIC customer service is your best bet for an official answer that your overzealous custom officers will accept. It should be rather evident to them that it is a synthetic material... Good call. I found an old post by John Hall talking about how it's a synthetic resin, and have dug out the c...
