Re: Guitar Bodies and Copyright

Yeah, I'd thought it was Trademark but the article referred to the trial in Germany being a "copyright" case (so I went with that), but Trademark is referenced elsewhere regarding 2009. The article also notes that in 2009 Fender lost an attempt to trademark the shapes of the Stratocaster and ...

Guitar Bodies and Copyright

There is an interesting article in today's Wall Street Journal newspaper backing up the decision by Rickenbacker to go after "copy" manufacturers many years ago.

Earlier this year, a regional court in Germany ruled in Fender's favor in a copyright case involving a Chinese manufacturer of copies ...

Re: John Deacon - Queen demos

First time that I've seen that pic. I was aware of John Deacon playing Rics in the early days before switching to Fenders. It seemed that everyone played them in the early 70's.

Re: Rickenbacker 101 website!

I plan to check this site out. This is my first forum post for a while. I am retired now and keep telling myself to get those darned basses out.

Re: Classic Albums: Rush 2112 & Moving Pictures

Yes, I have been enjoying that channel (still using DirecTV but mulling). I've enjoyed watching the various Rush programs and others. On Tuesday, they have a program about "Wish You Were Here" with interviews of the surviving Pink Floyd members.

I saw an interview with Geddy Lee (maybe on that ...

Re: 2nd Edition progress

Wow, I didn't know that a second edition was out. It has been quite a while since I've checked the forum (other things going on, wife's health, etc.), so no surprise I guess.

I will check it out and likely buy it.

Re: Roll Call !!

I still check back in from time to time when I heard the Rick voice. Gary's storage unit break-in was the big shocker going through the posts this evening.

Re: Hear R.E.M. Bassist Mike Mills' Dramatic New Rock-Meets-

First time posting in a while. This same picture was also in the October 25 "The Wall Street Journal" newspaper, section D. I liked the return to his Ric as seen in the image.

Re: New 4003S!

Nice! I bought one much like yours from Wildwood a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. Only Ric bass I've owned that hasn't needed any set up work at all out-of-the-box (though Wildwood probably poked at it a bit before it came to me). I am planning to post a review when I have more time.

Nice to ...

Re: Martin Gordon is back in Rickenlicious form

Indeed! Martin had seen one of my posts (I think to the corporate forum way back when) and we emailed a bit. I still get his periodic email blasts. I'd heard that he'd gotten a hold of a Ric again. "Barbicutie" (recorded during Kimono, but it didn't make it on originally) has a great Ric opening ...

Re: Yardbirds Lead Singer Electrocuted in 1976

Yeah, I've got a decade or so experience in the RF/microwave world as well.

The main point is that when everything is wired correctly, having the neutral connected to the chassis is generally safe (though not as safe as where the chassis (being really grounded) has no voltage because no current is ...

Re: RRF activity

The activity has really fallen off since I first joined - I think about ten years ago. A lot of forumites at the time were in heavy acquisition mode at the time as well, which would include me. It gave us all something to talk about, as usually things had to be done after getting the new toy. Of ...
