Re: Rickenbacker 330w Finish!

Michael,

Are you sure it was completely unfinished? I find that hard to believe. It looks like natural wood. Applying more oil may have given the wood a bit more sheen, but I doubt it was completely unfinished. Post some photos of the frets in question please.

Thanks for the reply.

It ...

Re: Rickenbacker 330w Finish!

Sascha,

These are like the 380s and are treated with oil. According to Mr. Hall when they first came out, these (W series) need less work due to the way they are now finished than the 380 Lagunas. You had to take an old pair of nylons and lightly apply tung oil to the 380s to keep the wood fresh ...

360W Neck Fit nad Finish

A few weeks ago I received my 360W 6 string and I did a lot of research on protecting the finish on it. I went the tung oil route as recommended, and it took quite a few coats on the guitar, and a lot of time.

However, as I worked closely with the neck, I believe the fit & finish (actually, lack of ...

Re: NGD 360W!

The tung oil has been working well for me on my 380L/PZ and now on the 330W, although the wood seems fine on the new 330W so really haven't given it much of rubdown yet. I believe there is something about the care of the Walnut finish on the brochure that comes with the guitar. You can also ...

Re: NGD 360W!

Use Tung Oil on Walnut finishes. You give it a gentle hand rub it and buff as needed!

Does a great job on my 380pz. 8)

Further research show there is 100% Tung Oil and Tung Oil Finish (varnish). I prefer the natural and don't mind the upkeep.

So I should buy and use 100% Tung Oil then ...

Great, thanks.

What about the neck and fretboard? Those seem somewhat unfinished as well.

Re: NGD 360W!

Nice figure on that walnut! Hopefully these walnut guitars will stay in the catalog!

Is the wood bookmatched on the top?

If you mean the twotone wood on the headstock, yes.

As beautiful as this guitar is, I have some concerns about trying to keep it clean. I don't mean wear and tear, I expect ...

NGD 360W!

New member here.

Just picked up my recently ordered 360W 6 string from my dealer!

I must say, the wood grain and finish on this one is just fantastic. An beautiful and unusual center stripe area on the front.

Plays and sounds great through my Carr Sportsman!

Terrible first picture...sorry.
