Maybe because the front is largely covered by pick guard, pickups, and the player's arm? I dunno. Maybe it's a matter of how the pieces get cut out.

I didn't care for flat wounds on my Cii. I switched to half rounds, and have been quite pleased. I can't tell you what kind they are. They came on another bass, apparently cost quite a bit, and have purple silk on the ends.

I wasn't sure I could afford it, either. The original plan was to sell my transgreen 4004Cii, but the members of one of my bands insisted I keep it and play it as my main bass in that band.
