Re: 4003 neck pickup
Measure the pickup with an ohmmeter. This is easy to do: unscrew the plate, flip it over, set the selector switch to the bridge pickup, and you can read the true nature of the neck pickup off its leaf terminal of the selector switch. It should read steady, and depending on the year of manufacture, ...

Re: 4004Cii Bridge Pickup Tone
I hadn't thought about using a 4-pole connector. As things stand, the speakers I'm using with it are all 15"s. I was thinking of using an external cabinet with an 8" or 10". But it wouldn't be difficult to wire in a 4-pole connector in the back of the rack.

My main rig these days uses a Crown XLS1500 power amp. It has a built in crossover. I also have a Biamp crossover I could use with another amp, if I wanted to.

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
I've been playing Ric basses for four decades now, so I've played them through a lot of amps. Currently, in one band, I'm using a modified 4000 through a second generation Sunn Model T (also modified) into a Sunn Model 410H cabinet which is sometimes supplemented by a Model 215 cabinet loaded with J...

Re: 4004Cii Bridge Pickup Tone
Rehearsal was canceled last night, so I had some free time. I decided to go ahead and wire the neck pickup in parallel. I also had a 500K pot with a switch handy, so I used the switch to allow both parallel HB and SC operation. Wired it all up, and it didn't work. Checked all my wiring, and found th...

Re: 4004Cii Bridge Pickup Tone
I've noticed that the neck pickup is considerably louder than the bridge pickup. Eventually, I intend to install a push-pull pot to select single coil on the neck pickup, but I think I'll try wiring the neck pickup in parallel. That should reduce the output, bringing the pickups into closer balance.
