Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
The pickups are in the less than ideal space, and the pickguard looks awkward . This was always a great body shape in search of refinement. I’d be into it if it added some modern corrections. If you want a pickup in a different location, go for it. There's plenty of room for another. And another. A...

Re: Potentiometers and Bartolini pickups on 4001
Based on my own personal experience, sometimes it's just easier, more efficient, and considering time and labor, to get an entire wiring harness. The appropriate pots and caps are already soldered in place. Here's a good source, from a guy who is one this forum's members. I had questions about how ...

Re: Potentiometers and Bartolini pickups on 4001
Get nuts to fit the threads and use those under the pickguard to lower the height of the pot. Unless the threaded portion is really long and bottoms the pot out in the cavity. That's a thought that hadn't occurred to me. No help with the push-pull pots, as they're already very slightly too long as ...

Potentiometers and Bartolini pickups on 4001
I have a burgundyglo 4001 with Bartolini pickups. I like it a lot. Always have, since I got it. When changing strings today, I opened it up. Looks to be the original wiring harness, except that I bypassed the bass blocker cap. I measured the potentiometers. Both volume pots are 227K, bass tone is 54...

Re: Why do RICs click? RIC Newbie
My thought is that, for a bass to be audible acoustically, it has to excite the air. That energy has to come from somewhere, and it comes from the strings. That will reduce sustain. If the energy taken from the strings varies with frequency (it will; it's a matter of which frequencies and to what ex...

A maple "skunk stripe" is an interesting idea, too. I've seen a picture of one. I think maybe I like the dark one better, though.

Re: The 4005XC finally made it to Ozland
I intend to put flats on mine, at least to try them out.
As for why RIC put rounds on, I'd guess that it's because that's what they use these days. That way, they have to buy only one kind of strings rather than two.

I may be the only person who feels this way, but I'd really rather have maple wings on the headstock on a mapleglo.
