Re: And another 1968 4001 resurrection.....

This is just stunning! I did a restoration on My Rick in a little worse off condition than yours though if i might say!

Nice to see someone else not afraid to repair what many told me was not possible! Still playing mine months on!

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

I Know from what i have seen on here on other truss rod related posts they all sit a bit forward from the nut! But with the state of the rest of the bass was in when i got it- it doesn't surprise me it was probably tightened so hard it pulled in the wood! But the wood on the first fret, under the ...

Thank you all so much for your kind comments!!
She is still playing well! Neck has stopped moving! I’m using deaddrio pro steels at the mo 45-105 but might try a set of Roto’s on it next.
She’s now been gigging most weekends!
I play in a few bands and use different bases in them all, mainly play my ...

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

I really like the color, it has more purple in it than the stock midnight blue. That looks too cool.
It looks good!! Not bad to British Gas Blue!! Haha!! It dose have a metallic like look to it. It's not metallic at all but maybe something in the mix. I'm happy with it! It's kind of near Midnight ...

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

Great job!

One item of transliteration between UK phrases and USA phrases: "bunged up."

In the USA, that is usually used as a substitute for a more perjorative phrase.

In the UK, the word "bung" is still used as a common noun in multiple contexts for stopper, cork, plug, wedge, etc., whereas it ...

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

James,
Got any pics of the painting process? Always curious on process for rattlecan finishes. On this one I'd be worried about the patches telegraphing through eventually, but given where you started, it's all good, whatever happens.
Hi, I have some on the way once i get them into photo bucket ...

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

One question:
It looks like the big block you installed in the body comes close , but not quite tight, to the neck. is that to allow access to truss rod ends? Given the inherent weakness of that area anyway due to neck pickup route, I'd think you might want to use the 1" neck pickup spacing and ...

Re: Destroyed bass restoration

Cheers Guys, yes it has been a learning curve to say the least!! it will never be show room quality but I just want it to look nice! it deserves that!
