Re: Gotta Love Eggplant

I remember nearly buying a brand new 4001 exposed at a retailer in Rome back in 1983...I had no money

Re: Welcome Francesco Fai

Thanks for the message Peter; I may not be fully up to date on the matter since I moved to Belgium in 2013.
I was in contact with Paul W a couple of years ago during his installation in Italy, but I see he's been silent here

Re: How would you describe this finish?

This is very much like Fireglo looked in that period. I used to have a 4001 from the same period. Same finish

Re: Bass necks in 2025

They must have been under special substances in 1967 at Rickenbacker 😂
I have basses and guitars from 1966 and 1968….. necks are shallow too, but not THAT shallow as 1967s

Re: Bass necks in 2025

"Shallow" is probably a better term. As stated, the necks on the new 4005V's are very shallow (from to back) and reminiscent of the 60's 4005 necks. Very comfortable to play. :D

good to know that the correct word is 'shallow'....
Based on my experience, 1967 is the golden year for shallow necks ...
