Re: George Harrison and that typical Beatles sound.

Which brings us right back full circle to George Harrison, who was 'instrumental' in Ringo's best successes - "It Don't Come Easy" and especially 'Photograph", both of which are indelibly stamped with George Harrison's songwriting and playing.

Well, I've sent two orders and two followup messages so far and haven't heard a thing in over a week's time. Hopefully something shows up soon.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, it's a stock '78 so it has the cap. My Ric is a '75 with the cap and it works fine in the studio with the Rolands open-back, but like I said, I'm not pushing it.

We both tend to let the neck PU and amp do the brunt of the low end power and have the bridge PU and amp ...

It's for the treble PU of his 4001 bass. I figured there might be some issues, even though there isn't a whole lot of 'bass' going through it. Most of the 'bass' in his sound is from his neck PU going through a legit bass amp with a 15" speaker. I always had a good sound using guitar amps for the ...

Open-Back Cab?

Hi! I was wondering if any of you have used any open-back cabinets for their bridge/treble pickup. I’m thinking of getting a mid-size combo guitar amp (100w 2x10 or 2x12) for my son to run his Ric’s treble PU through. I’ve only used separate 4x12 closed back cabs for this, (or 2x10s in a biamp ...

It may well be a good thing for you. On the other hand, it may not. Thinking back, as a rock/prog rock bassist, the whole Berklee jazz thing drove me up a wall. Some absolutely monster musicians there for sure, incredible technical virtuosos on their instruments, but not a whole lot of listenable ...

Glad to be here! I'm amazed at some of the people here and the work they do on Rics, and the overall knowledge and love for these great guitars and basses. Just amazing! I've learned a ton just reading through the posts.

"Hanging Out in Heaven" is a great place to start if you're somewhat new to Marty. For Church albums, you can pick up most anything, although "Priest=Aura" and "After Everything Now This" stand out. "Heyday" is very good for the two-guitar jangle rock of their earlier stuff.

Marty listens to ...
